BERLUSCONI
SAYS ITALY WON'T TAKE EUROPE'S ORDER
Italian Prime Ministre
Silvio Berlusconi says in blunt speech to Parliament that country takes orders
from no one, including its European partners; says is Europe policy will be
tougher and more independent than Italy's has so far been; seem to undercut
recent statement which reassured allies Italy remains as committed as ever to
European integration.

FILM;
AN ITALIAN SATIRIST TAKES A VERY SERUIS TURN
Nanni Moretti who
is bearded, dapper and reserved, resembles a university professor more than
one of Italy's leading comic presences. Moretti had become acclaimed for his
distinctive brand of deadpan humor.
The 48-year-old Mr. Moretti writes, directs, produces and stars in his movies,
using his own preoccupation and opinions as the starting point for his work.
He plays himself (or a thinly veiled alter ego) in his films which are exuberant
grab bags of physical whimsy and barbed social commentary. In "Caro Diario"
(1993), hi first film commercially released in the Unite States, he tooled around
on his Vespa of the talent of Jennifer Beals in "Flashdance" and movie
critics, among other topics.
